Maps released, Senate hearing

Monday, September 27, will be the final opportunity for the public to testify about the proposed redistricting maps.  Sen. Jon Ford (R-Terre Haute), chair of the Senate Committee on Elections, will host a public hearing on HB 1581 at 9:00 a.m. in the Senate Chamber of the Indiana Statehouse.   HB 1581 contains the draft language for Congressional, Indiana House of Representative, and Indiana Senate electoral districts for the next decade. 

 The proposed maps themselves may be found here (IN Senate)here (Congress and IN House), and here (IN House Democrats amendment).

The winning maps from the Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission (ICRC) mapping competition have been announced and links may be found ICRC announces winning maps .

The League encourages members and members of the public to attend and to offer testimony.  The Brennan Center offers some sage advice for those comments: 6 Tips for making effective comments at a redistricting hearing
