The Indiana Debate Commission
The Indiana Debate Commission held the first gubernatorial debate on September 16 in Merrillville , Indiana at the Star Plaza Theater. It was a great success. The Calumet Area and Porter County Leagues provided voter registration and served as time keepers for the debate. It was well attended and presented in a non partisan, professional manner. We look forward to the next two debates on September 23 in Jasper, IN and October 14 in Bloomington . LWVIN is a proud member of the Indiana Debate Commission. Click for more information on the location, moderators and format of the remaining debates.
It's not too late to ask a question of these candidates. Go to www.indianadebatecommission.com to submit a question on line or mail one in at the address provided.

THE ELECTION REFORM COMMITTEE MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS TO ALL 92 COUNTY ELECTION BOARDS.
The Election Reform Committee collected data for three years by surveying poll workers and poll watchers on the operation of the polls on Election Day. As a result of the analysis of the date collected from these surveys, LWVIN sent a letter to each Election Board and County Clerk with a list of recommendations to improve the voting process in Indiana . Read the letter and recommendations.
All local Leagues are encouraged to participate in the November election surveys to be conducted. The options include poll worker and poll watcher surveys. Contact Jeanette at jvneagu@lwvin.org for more information. The survey process is continuing to be a valuable method to improve communication with each County Board of Election across the state and ultimately improve the election process in Indiana for all citizens.
